Our Story
We’ve come a long way in the past few years, from a team of three making websites to a full-service digital agency. This is how we got here.

Humble beginnings
Splitpixel was founded in 2008 by Charlie Herke and Greg Smuk. Inspired by our experiences in the industry, we decided to start our own digital agency, focused on creativity, customer service and results.
Based in the Media Centre in Huddersfield, we started designing and building websites for local companies across West Yorkshire, in many cases helping small businesses find their first foot on the digital ladder. Honesty, good value, and helpful advice that’s accessible to everyone has always been what we’re about, right from the very start.
We were soon joined by our lead designer, Rob Marshall, and lead developer, Jon Kidger, who we’re happy to say are still with us today.
Moving on up
Over the years, we’ve slowly and steadily expanded our services and our team of digital experts, growing to offer ecommerce, digital marketing, search and content writing, all while developing our approach to website design and development.
As we’ve grown, our clients have grown with us – we’re very proud to have worked with such a diverse range of businesses not just in Yorkshire, but across the whole of the UK. From SMEs to national blue-chip companies, we still aim to give everyone that same accessible service that we’ve provided all along.
Needless to say, we grew out of our home in the Media Centre in 2017 – now a team of 11, we’ve relocated to our current home in Heritage Exchange, a converted Victorian textile mill that dates back to 1864. It’s got lovely brickwork. And it’s the perfect spot for us to keep doing what we’re doing.
