Pushing Ticket and Box Office CRMs Further
At Splitpixel, we’re integration specialists. We always take the time to understand every platform our client uses as much as possible, learning its features, quirks and possibilities to provide the best possible experience when CRMs meet our websites.
We’ve worked hard to make sure our integrations go further, eschewing basic iframes and widgets wherever we can to deliver full API integrations, streamlining user experience and data flows.
Maximising Donations with Wimbledon BookFest
After joining other prominent literature festivals in parting ways with a key sponsor (we won’t say more – you probably saw it in the news), Wimbledon BookFest were keen to maximise individual donations to fill the gap and reduce reliance on corporate sponsorship.
Using Spektrix as their ticketing and CRM system, the WBF team were frustrated that users needed to log into their accounts to make simple donations. While buying a ticket requires a certain level of investment that means customers will overcome a few hurdles if needed, we know that users are put off donating at the first barrier.
To streamline the experience, we built a standalone donation function using Stripe, allowing users to easily make payments without logging in. However, accurate data is key – so we built an API connector to pass donation details to exisiting Spektrix customers, or create new ones as needed.

The Center for the Arts in Jackson, WY, wanted their website to do more – in every single aspect. When it came to a new site, we delivered as much advancement as we could. As well as a similar quick donate function to Wimbledon BookFest, advanced event filtering and complex pre-sale options, they also wanted to do more with the final steps of a customer’s journey.
Using Spektrix as their CRM and ticketing platform, many elements of the journey on their website were handled by iframes, including the basket. This makes it difficult to rearrange or add content to truly tailor the experience – so we delivered a fully API-driven solution that pulls in basket data, allowing us to design the interface we want, and add additional features.
The custom basket provides more information on the ticket you’re booking, provides easier options to edit or remove, and allows donation upsells directly in the basket. All in all, it’s a much clearner and better optimised solution.

Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds is housed in a beautiful old building, down a lovely, quirky street with… terrible parking.
Sharing their car park with the Greene King brewery next door, space is limited, and encouraging ticket buyers to come back and book car parking after buying their ticket was always a challenge.
For their new website, the TRBSE team wanted a solution – so we found one. By replacing their Spektrix basket iframe with a fully API-driven custom basket solution, we were able to analyse the event instances in a user’s basket, and query for available car parking spaces at the same time. Users can now book a car parking ticket in one click!
Implementing an API basket meant we were also able to provide membership and donation upsells at the same time, helping fundraising efforts.

The Cabot is a stunning cinema, theatre and music venue in Beverley, MA that focuses on building community on the North Shore – something we absolutely love. Their extensive membership scheme went through a bit of an overhaul about a year after they launched the site, so we helped them update the standard membership components we’d implemented, delivering something a bit more bespoke.
The theatre’s membership page now features multiple colour-coded tier options, with choices to buy individual or joint memberships, set up auto-renewals, or select monthly or annual payments – and clicking “Join” takes you straight to the basket to complete your purchase.
Once in the basket, we run a query to establish that a membership is in there – and if so, we display a custom referral scheme message and field. If a user has been told about The Cabot memberships by someone else, they can name their referring friend, with that data being passed to Spektrix,

Gift vouchers have been a bugbear for some of our Spektrix clients for a while, so we were delighted when support rolled out for custom gift voucher components in 2024. Our clients at the National Centre for Writing jumped at the chance to offer a streamlined gift voucher buying experience in time for Christmas – who wouldn’t want to receive the gift of exceptional writing courses?
By developing a custom component rather than relying on a clunky iframe, the NCW team can set their preferred gift voucher suggestion values, and create a much cleaner interface for adding messages and recipients. Most importantly, they can place the component anywhere they like on site, integrating it into the user journey wherever they please.

Junction Goole is a thriving community venue with an absolutely packed events calendar. Their fantastic programme incorporates workshops and classes, stage events, screenings, and multi-event festivals and seasons throughout the year. For their latest website, they wanted to give users more information about all of these amazing options.
A split nav for “What’s On” and “Take Part” options allows for different searching and filtering options tailored to the event type, with age group and day of the week options for workshops, compared to genres, matinees, free and family options for performances. Both listings utilise a custom accessibility listing to easily find accessible instances of events.
Taking things even further, the JG team can create custom season, series and festival listings through their site CMS, tying these in to Spektrix tags. Creating one of these event groups applies labels on the event listings, adds CTAs to event posts, and creates an automatic listing page with extensive content customisation options.
