Across London and the southeast of England, Oakland Care operate a group of award-winning, purpose-built luxury care homes. Their dedicated care teams across these beautiful homes are often recognised for their exceptional work. With a commitment to sustainability, Oakland Care also became a certified Carbon Neutral Britain business in 2022.
As they continue to grow and open newly built care homes across the southeast, Oakland Care wanted to ensure the content on their site was optimised to achieve better search rankings and raise their profile.
They were looking for an agency who specialised in search engine optimisation (SEO) to help them better target audiences local to their new homes using organic strategies. This would allow them to get the most out of their website.
As an organisation mindful of accessibility and sustainability, they were also keen to enact these changes to their website wherever possible – even to simply highlight their offline efforts towards these goals.

A bespoke marketing strategy
Beginning with thorough planning, including keyword research and page performance analysis, we identified any gaps and areas for improvement across the site. This ensured we could continually measure our progress and track our results as we made changes.
We continue to conduct technical audits and fix any issues across the Oakland Care site and carry out off-site optimisation to help build website authority. We did not build the Oakland Care website, so we tailored this strategy to work with their existing CMS and within their current brand guidelines.
One key aim was to improve organic rankings for unbranded location search terms – for example, ‘nursing homes in Essex’ – so our SEO activity for Oakland Care includes creating new location landing pages to help target areas local to the new homes. This means that suitable potential residents are more likely to find Oakland Care’s website.
We write bespoke copy, carefully incorporating target keywords to ensure the text is technically effective, while also matching the personal, trustworthy tone Oakland Care want to convey to potential new residents. Working within the existing website’s design parameters, we continue to make suggestions to improve site accessibility – making the text more readable wherever possible – another thing that will help page performance.
Since undertaking Oakland Care’s SEO activity, we’ve seen improvement across many key metrics including an impressive 50.9% increase in organic search recorded by Google Analytics. When comparing the final quarter of 2022 with the same period in 2021, there was a 54% rise in organic clicks recorded and a 138.3% rise in organic impressions.
Our tracking of keywords also indicated that across the first 18 months, average position for our target keywords rose by 41.67 places and visibility rose by 9.16% to stand at 20.75% (that’s a whopping 79% real-terms improvement). We’re proud to say that 25 of our target keywords have moved to a top 10 position – meaning they’ll appear on the first page of Google – and 10 of our target keywords have now even reached the top 3 position!
