For businesses in the engineering sector, it’s quite rare to sell direct to consumers through a website. Wherever they are in the supply chain, the focus is likely to be on presenting something closer to an online brochure than an online store, with customers picking up the phone or dropping an email to get a quote for their specific needs.
This means the focus needs to be on showing the audience that a company is the right one to be
dealing with – answering questions, displaying expertise, and making sure that the decision to get in touch is easy.
Digital needs in engineering
A website visitor should have a similar experience to sitting down with a member of a sales team – they should come away informed and ready to place that order. There are a number of tools that can be used to achieve this, including:
Web design features
- PDF downloads of technical specifications
- Photography and video
- FAQs and case studies
- Online quoting tools
Digital marketing activity
- Thought leadership blog articles
- Targeted Google ads
- Developing buyer personas
- B2B-focused social media marketing
Our work in the engineering sector
We’ve done a lot of work for clients in the engineering sector over the years, both in web design and digital marketing.
NGF Industrial Doors - Product brochure site with technical specifications and photography
NGF’s website had features they never used anymore, and lacked some things they sorely needed. Business was very good but lead generation through the site was limited.
We delivered a minimalist design for this Castleford-based engineering firm, focused on bespoke photography of the team and their work, more in-depth technical product specifications, case studies, and a blog answering common client questions.
Canal Engineering – Central hub with distinct identities for separate company divisions
As part of the extensive John Lord Group of companies, Canal Engineering also has five sub divisions itself. Each needed to stand alone online, while also being recognisable as part of the whole.
We delivered a central hub website for the main brand that introduced users to the five sub divisions. Each of the five websites follows a similar template for consistency, and all five can be updated from one central admin area behind the scenes.
HallmarkFIX - Design refresh, copywriting, WordPress build and PPC
HallmarkFIX are a market leading pallet truck repair company that we've been working with for over five years. We designed a new WordPress site for them in 2014, which we continue to keep updated, and we manage their ongoing digital marketing strategy to help bring them the traffic they deserve.Learn more
Arxell - Introducing a new product to the world
Introducing a brand new, never-before seen product to the world can be difficult – but Arxell had developed a revolutionary drying system perfect for construction and flood restoration.
We delivered a very visual website that showed the system in action, including a bespoke animation that took visitors through the process of how it works, step-by-step. In-depth content explains more, and a custom built calculator gives price estimates.
