Full description
We’re looking for a new web developer to join our digital agency based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. As part of our talented development team, you’ll be given the opportunity to be involved in a variety of web development projects across the studio.
We’re after someone with a passion for coding first and foremost – if you can write html confidently, you’re off to a good start. We make sites predominantly in WordPress, so experience is valuable, but not essential – we’re keen to train you in our approach to both front and back-end solutions.
We work with a huge range of clients, but specialise in the arts, culture and charity sectors. If you’re a dev with a passion for creativity and helping others, we want to hear from you!
Coding talents (please send us examples) and being the right fit for the studio are the most important things to us, so all levels of experience will be considered – whether you have years of experience or are just a keen coder ready to get stuck in and learn new things.
Key skills and responsibilities:
- Clean and commented code writing skills
- HTML5 and CSS/SCSS
- Understanding of PHP and MySQL
- Understanding of jQuery/JavaScript
These are not essential, but it would be advantageous to have experience in:
- WordPress and WooCommerce, custom themes
- Knowledge of WordPress starter themes/frameworks
- Plugin development and maintenance
- Integrations, updates, testing and security
- Cross browser/device compatibility
The ideal candidate will have:
- Some experience in the digital industry – whether in-house or in an agency. However, this isn’t essential
- Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem solving
- Great communication skills
- An interest in the digital and web development industries, to keep up with trends and identify new solutions
- The ability to adapt, improvise and learn new things quickly
- An understanding of SEO principles and how they translate to web development

We operate hybrid working where you can choose to split your time between the office and home, with a minimum two days per week in our Huddersfield office. Hardware will be provided to facilitate this.
