Since partnering with The Welcome Centre charity and food bank in March last year, the Splitpixel team have been supporting them in every way we can. The team have been providing website support, donating much-needed food items, spending their volunteer days at the centre, and we’ve even offered to drive their van to collect donations. Now we’re going one step further – well, quite a few steps further actually – as some of the Splitpixel team are taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise funds for the charity.
This September, eight brave Splitpixel staff members are setting off on a 24-mile trek across the hills and mountains of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough. With over 5,000ft of climbing to do over the course of the trek, the team have been hard at work gearing up for the gruelling climb. They are spending their weekends on long walks and hikes, but training for the walk is nothing compared to the actual challenge.
The team tackling the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge are a mixed bag of Splitpixel’s managers, marketers, designers and web developers. Ash, Seth, Jon, Charlie, Greg, Eleanor, Max, and Sam will be walking for almost 12 hours in a bid to complete the challenge! The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is no easy feat, and every donation received will spur the team on to complete it in the allotted time and help them reach their fundraising goal of £3000.
By taking part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks, the team are hoping to raise as much as possible for The Welcome Centre, with each donation going directly to the charity and food bank. The donations will be used to support individuals and families in crisis across Huddersfield, with the money going towards emergency food, essential household items and support services.
